What is Kombucha?
Kombucha is basically a fizzy, fermented tea that is made up of simple good – for – you ingredients. It’s a tea that has been around different cultures and tribes for more than 2000 years and has seen a resurgence in popularity over the past 20 years.
Kombucha or ‘Bucha” as we like to call it is made up of four simple ingredients.
The key ingredient in making up Kombucha tea is the S.C.O.B.Y, this is the symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast (SCOBY) commonly called a “mother”. We are so grateful for this symbiotic relationship which our whole business is built on to provide you lovely people with these refreshing drinks. This kombucha culture was often passed from family to family in rural areas from china to japan.
The culture which often looks like a jellyfish transforms the sugar in the sweet tea into alcohol which is then turned into healthy acids and this is how this lovely natural tart drink is created.
Kombucha is a refreshing drink that can be enjoyed at any time of the day in replacement of sugar-laden soft drinks. Kombucha also hosts claims to numerous health benefits when drank over time, it has been known to boost energy, aid digestion, rebalance homeostasis and supports healthy bacteria in the gut to mention but a few.
